Wire Rope Thimbles

Tensioned Cable Hardware - Provides a solid perimeter and support foundation to which all types of bird netting can be fastened. 

Connection Hardware - Hardware used to connect the cable to the corner hardware, turnbuckles and the netting mesh.

 When and Where to use Wire Rope Thimbles:
  • Use a wire rope thimble anytime a cable is bent to create a loop connection. Thimbles protect the cable from kinking, fraying and failing due to an overly aggressive bend in the cable. Typically, thimbles are used at all corner hardware such as the large eyebolts and screw eyes.
  • Use the stainless steel wire rope thimbles with the stainless steel net cables.
  • Use the zinc plated galvanized steel wire rope thimbles with the galvanized net cable.
  • Both types can be used with poly based ropes such as nylon, polypropylene and HDPE ropes.
  • Thimbles are a component of the connection cable hardware used to fasten Nixalite’s bird netting and fence products.
  • Most commonly used with Nixalite’s Tensioned Perimeter Cable Hardware. Can be used with deer and perimeter fencing hardware and an overhead cable grid systems or anywhere a 3/32” cable is used.
Thimble/Ferrule Installation Tips:
  • Match the Thimble base material to the cable. Use stainless steel thimbles with stainless steel cables. Use the zinc plated galvanized steel thimbles with galvanized cables.
  • To speed installation, you can spread the thimble open slightly so it will pass over the ¼” thick wire of the large eyebolts and screw eyes. Make sure to close them after installation.
  • When creating loop connections, install the thimbles into the eyebolt or screw eye eyelets first, then run the cable around the thimble and back through the ferrules or rope clamps.
